The Cataracs... mtvU Freshman?

Posted by movehalfaninch on 2008.11.12 at 16:30
I know I posted a couple weeks ago about my new obsession, The Cataracs, and I hate to make them the only thing I talk about, but I can't help it. They're just so much fun, and so addictive. I love them for all the reasons I love Chromeo.

Anyway, it turns out that they're nominated alongside I Hate Kate, Q Da Kid, The Weepies and French Horn Rebellion for mtvU's The Freshman this week. And it's the video for Julia - my favorite - that is the one they're nominated with. So exciting! If you liked them at all, please go vote, because I'm obsessed and would love to see them win: http://freshmen.mtvu.com/freshmen_nominees/the_cataracs

I wish we had this in more places, but it would require people to actually..... you know.. get funky.

And this is especially for anime conventions.

Song: Psych Out
Artist: Jimmy Castor Bunch

When disco's bad, it's BAD. But when it's good? YUMMY

I love the progression in this.

Hilty and Bosch + this song (halfway through): it doesn't get a lot better.

Electropop much. This is as infectious as anything Chromeo's ever done.

Song: The Break [12", 1979]
Artist: Kat Mandu

FINALLY found it.

My favorite disco track.

This dancer/pioneer Angel from LA taught a three hour punking workshop last month. He played NOTHING but this song and another break. It was sublime.
